GS Klivans is a gang consultant and lecturer.
He retired with the rank of Captain after serving for approximately 20 years with the Westchester County (NY) Department of Correction (Peace Officer).
Captain KLIVANS was responsible for gang intelligence and a member of the Emergency Services Unit (ESU) when his rank was Correction Officer and Sergeant. Mr. Klivans was employed for nearly 10 years as a District Attorney Investigator (Police Officer) serving in the New York State counties of Westchester and Putnam. As an investigator, he conducted general investigations, performed court-ordered surreptitious entries, surveillance and crime scene photography.
He retired with the rank of Captain after serving for approximately 20 years with the Westchester County (NY) Department of Correction (Peace Officer).

Mr. Klivans served in the US Army Reserve for 30 years. He was initially trained as a Counterintelligence Agent and received additional training as a Defense Against Methods of Entry (DAME) technician and in Intelligence Photography. Upon his promotion to Warrant Officer, he was assigned to the US Army Criminal Investigation Command (CID) (Federal Agent). He retired with the rank of Chief Warrant Officer (CW4) holding the title of Special Agent in Charge (SAC).
He has written more than twenty (20) gang related articles, which have been published in American Jails Magazine, Sheriff Magazine and Deputy and Court Officer Magazine.

He was an Adjunct Instructor for St. Petersburg College, Florida, and as such lectured for the federally funded Multijurisdictional Counterdrug Task Force Training (MCTFT) program.
He has been certified as an instructor by the New York State Commission of Correction, Municipal Police Training Council and the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services.

GANG SECRET CODES: DECIPHEREDThis book is designed to provide criminal justice students and law enforcement officers with an understanding of the covert methods of written communication used by gang members. The author, GS Klivans uses examples that he has deciphered to illustrate complex gang codes which use hidden signs and intricate symbols. Readers will learn how to look for patterns and clues that help to decode documents and develop an appreciation for the ingenuity of criminals to hide their secret messages.
